A bittersweet Father's Day episode on 'Maalaala Mo Kaya'
HOW do you measure a son's love for his father? What if a son can't seem to ever please his father? The many thorny issues that emerge in the complicated relationship between father and son get a deluxe dramatic treatment on Thursday as ABS-CBN's "Maalaala Mo Kaya" presents its Father's Day episode with the help of acclaimed actors Joel Torre, John Wayne Sace, Aiza Marquez and Ahron Villena, in an episode directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.
The Father's Day presentation, written by Jayson R. Villamor and Jarell M. Serencio, centers on Eddie (Joel Torre), a dad whose hopes for his two sons involve their excellence in athletic pursuits, being that Eddie himself did not reach his own dreams of becoming a famous sports star. But when his older son Oliver (Ahron Villena) decides he has had enough of Eddie's overbearing brand of parenting, studious younger son EJ (John Wayne Sace) decides to step up and make Eddie's dream of having a star athlete as a son a reality. Will EJ succeed or will his determination get the better of him?
