Editorial: A sad situation

THE state of the government is such a mess.

Now, even educators and lawyers have asked President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to step down after she talked to an election official at the height of the canvassing of votes cast for President in last year's election.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Gloria Arroyo

It used to be that militants, the opposition and some members of the clergy were making the demand. The call has been echoed now by other sectors of society.

We've seen rallies left and right being held against the beleaguered Mrs. Arroyo. She is buffeted left and right by controversies involving her and her family.

Not a few have expressed exasperation and disgust over the situation in the country. The political turmoil is taxing the patience of the people and we only hope that sooner or later, things will work out fine for all of us and we can all move on to a better future.

To those who seek to resolve the political crisis resolves, they should place the welfare of the country and Filipinos above their selfish interests.
