'The Long Weekend': A movie for the overstressed, undersexed, loveless

HEARTRHROB Chris Klein has built a bankable filmography apotheosizing the hot-blooded jock with the irrepressible and insatiable libido. It's a role that Klein has been destined to play beginning with the goofball "American Pie" series, the wacky "Say It Isn't So" and the endearing "Here on Earth". The former Mr. Katie Holmes (yes, they were rumored to be engaged before the whole TomKat mania broke loose) has also played it straight as a hero in a number of movies such as "Rollerblade" and "We Were Soldiers". Now Klein ratches up the hunk meter by playing a babe magnet, who's trying to get his overworked brother laid in "The Long Weekend".

Brendan Fehr (of the defunct TV series Roswell) plays Ed Waxman, an advertising executive and brother to Klein's Cooper. Already on the brink of a meltdown, Ed is pressured to come up with a great new ad campaign within 48 hours (or the stretch of the entire weekend) or else he's going to get the boot. As he gears up for the pivotal moment of his career, in comes his brother Cooper who's determined to help him reawaken his manly ways. A reluctant Ed finds himself getting hooked up with single mothers, strippers and even desperate older ladies, with each encounter yielding disastrous results. As the weekend draws to a close, Ed is resigned to losing his job and his virility until he spots the woman of his dreams. Revitalized, Ed ups the stakes for himself by aiming not just to nail the campaign but the woman who could change the course of his life.

Also joining Klein and Fehr is Canadian hottie Evangeline Lilly who plays Kate in the hit TV series "Lost". The movie is produced by Paul Brooks who also brought you the sleeper romance "The Wedding Date", the paranormal thriller "White Noise" and the monster smash "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

The Lost Weekend opens in theaters on September 7. It is released by Viva International Pictures. (PR)
