Group offers ICT case writing grants
DO YOU know of a project that uses information and communications technologies (ICTs) innovatively, creatively and appropriately that makes it relevant to people's lives, contribute to their well-being and build their capacities for lifelong learning? Do you want to write about the project and share with others what the project can teach us?
If you can justify that your project is ICT4D and if you can write about it and turn it into a case study, then the ICT4D-Philippines Project is looking for you. ICT4D-Philippines Project will fund your case study, provided you finish writing about in less than six months after you receive the grant.
The proposal should be able to show what is unique in the intervention that it is important for development, and why ICT was used as a central tool and not other tools.
The proposal should also highlight the human interest angles, which enable the reader to appreciate the development field of the study.
ICT4D is the use of ICTs for sustainable development and empowerment. ICTs include interactive as well as other technologies that interface between traditional and new media.
Cases on ICT4D projects that deal with access to ICTs, social services, participation, governance, empowerment, economic development and gender and development will be considered for funding. Guidelines for the writing grants can be downloaded from http://ict4d.ph/grants/.
You can send your proposals at grants@ict4d.ph or to Undersecretary Fortunato de la Peña, ICT4D Project Administrator, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Bicutan, Taguig, Metro Manila. For more information, you can visit www.ict4d.ph or call Merlita M. Opeña, project manager, at telephone 837-75-37 or send an email to mmo@ehealth.ph.
Deadline of proposal submission is Oct. 31, 2005. (Press release)
