Mark Anthony Fernandez returns with powerful performance in 'MMK'
BACK after taking several years off to get his personal life in order, actor Mark Anthony Fernandez makes his return to the limelight in a big way when he headlines Thursday's memorable - and sure to be controversial - episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya".
Multi-award-winning actress Elizabeth Oropesa and internationally-acclaimed director Chito Roņo also take on important acting and directing roles, respectively, in this unforgettable dramatic episode, which follows the story of Edwin (played by Fernandez), a letter-sender who talks about his life growing up under a mother who worked as the town abortionist and the surprising turns his own life has taken.
Edwin was just a child when he found out - entirely by accident - that his mother Elaidia (portrayed by Oropesa) was the town abortionist. While Elaidia also helped women give birth, she made better money through performing abortion - money that helped raise Edwin and his three other siblings after a succession of men left her with children but no other way to support herself and her expanding family.
Disgusted with his mother's choices, Edwin runs away for good in his teens and constructs a new life for himself as a teacher, with his own family and a "proper" moral code. But what happens when Elaidia walks back into his life?
Two other fine actors play Edwin at different ages, with Star Circle Kid Quest winner Nash Aguas as the young Edwin and "Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit" star Angelo Ilagan as the teenage Edwin. Also in the episode is award-winning young actress Katherine Luna as Edwin's wife, Ramona.
Charo Santos-Concio hosts this memorable episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya" o Thursday only on ABS-CBN. (Press release)
