10th leg of darts tilt set in Manila
THE 10th ticket to the December 6 grand finals will be up for grabs Thursday night when the Darts Council of the Philippines (DCP) "Dartstravaganza" - the P240,000 Battle of Champions singles tournament returns to the Bayview Park Hotel along Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
Nine Metro Manila darters have already advanced to the championship round where P120,000 is at stake.
The weekly eliminations have two separate brackets for non-rated and rated darters. Non-rated darters will compete among themselves while rated ones will vie for the top slot against each other. The top four finishers however will do battle in the crossover phase that follows. The mode of play is 501 best-of-three affair. The mode improves to best-of-five in the top four phase. Entry fee is P200.
Last week, Warren Perolino defeated Joel Hizon to claim the ninth spot and join early qualifiers Angelo Misa, Mon Sabalboro, Ding Sumulong, Toto Andrade, Sydney Lim, Ching Saez, Pipo Garcia and Rey Sevilla.
The champion of Thursday's tournament, which begins at 8 p.m., will receive P1,500 while the second placer gets a Terton Craft dartboard. The third placer will get P300 worth of Dartware accessories while the fourth placer will be awarded P200 worth of Winmau products.
Elimination legs will also be conducted in the provinces as the DCP hopes to gather 64 of the best darters from all over the country. The DCP "Dartstravaganza" is supported by Terton Craft, Toby's Sports and Winmau Darts. (Jojo Claudio)
Other Metro Manila venues for the "Dartstravaganza" are Daungan, Pearl Plaza, Pool Spot and Steps restaurant.
