Broadcaster shot, injured

* John Seres Bugos Joseph, popularly known as "Johnny Midnight", was allegedly shot inside his office

A VETERAN broadcast journalist, who is known for his faith healing activities, was shot by one of his patients inside his office in Las Piñas City Thursday morning.

Johnny Midnight (John Seres Bugos Joseph in real life), was shot and hit at the right side of his body. He was rushed to the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City, where he is under observation.

The Las Piñas City police said they arrested the suspect, identified as Romulo Rose, 39, of Barangay Malia, General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite.

A report said the victim was using the computer in his office, which he named as Temple of Man, at the Ursi Building along Zapote Road in the city when Rose came in and confronted him. A heated argument ensued between the two until the suspect shot at the victim.

Senior Inspector Erma Marquez of the Las Piñas City police said she and her two colleagues were conducting a routine inspection in the area when they heard a gunshot. When they rushed to the crime scene, she said, they chanced upon the suspect who was about to escape.

Marquez said they immediately brought the victim to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to the Asian Hospital.

During investigation, it was learned that the suspect was a former faith-healing patient of the victim.

Rose said he confronted the victim because instead of getting healed after being "treated" by the victim, his condition worsened.

Rose is detained at the Las Piñas City police as a frustrated homicide case is being prepared to be filed against him. (JFF/Sunnex)
