RP initiatives for biofuels highlighted at Asia confab, expo

ASIA'S largest biofuels conference, Asia Biofuels Conference and Exposition will be held on December 6to 8 at the Westin Philippine Plaza in Manila, Philippines. The third annual conference will focus on the development of biofuels projects and connecting future producers, current producers, project developers and investors. Speakers will cover the "Complete Biofuels Cycle," including feedstocks, markets, marketing of biofuels and co-products (DDGs, CO2, etc.) and much more.

Over 300 delegates from 30 countries are expected to attend. The main focus of the conference will be to address the development opportunities for biofuels in Asia including Philippines, China, Thailand, and Indonesia which have the land mass and feedstock to drive the bioenergy sector in Asia.

Early registration rates have been extended to November 24. Those interested in attending should register online at www.asiabiofuels.com. On-site registration will also be available for those paying with cash (USD), bank issued cashiers check, or credit card.

Key officials including Energy Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla, Bukidnon Representative Juan Miguel F. Zubiri and Mario Marasigan, assistant director, Energy Utilization Management Bureau of the Department of Energy (DOE) will participate in the conference. The dignitaries will open the conference on December 6, highlighting Philippine government policies and programs with regard to biofuels, renewable energy, investment opportunities, etc.

Key topics include: energy legislation and government programs; new ethanol and biodiesel plant technology; multiple feedstock sources and limitations; an automotive perspective; finance and investment capital; and global market issues.

Key representatives from the Philippine Fuel Ethanol Alliance, DOE, Philippines, D1 Oils, Biodiesel Industries Inc., Praj Industries, Genencor International Inc., Delta-T Corporation, and Tomsa Destil have also confirmed their participation in this conference.

Conference delegates will also have the opportunity to network with government officials, financial institutions, venture capital firms, design/build firms and consultants to the industry while visiting the exhibit hall.
