Behind the scenes of Manny Pacquiao's 'battle'
HOW does a champion prepare for his newest and biggest "Battle"? Find out this Saturday when ABS-CBN presents an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Manny Pacquiao's rigorous regimen of training and mental preparations for "The Battle," his upcoming bout with Mexican fighter Erik Morales.
This exclusive documentary, entitled "Hataw Pacquiao", is shot and presented reality show style by host Dyan Castillejo, and is but one of the TV specials prepared by ABS-CBN as it counts down to the main event on January 22.
In this very special behind-the-scenes look, Dyan gives us exclusive access to what happens in a day in the life of the champ, currently undergoing an exhaustive training regimen in the United States.
We see him start his day with a prayer, reading his current favorite book "The Purpose Driven Life". And then he rushes towards training - jogging, fast shadow boxing, sparring, working on the speedball and double end bag.
But how does he prepare mentally? What does he think of when he watches tapes of Morales - footage that, by necessity, includes his defeat by Morales in 2004? How does he touch base with his spirituality in America? And how does he spend his small amounts of downtime?
Hataw Pacquiao even answers the trivial, like "What does the champ eat?" And is he leaving behind his favorite Filipino foods tinola and nilagang baka in favor of a special diet?
ABS-CBN continues its mandate to be of Service to the Filipino, wherever he may be, with their free-TV broadcast of the long-awaited match between Filipino hero Pacquiao and his Mexican opponent Erik Morales on January 22, as well as ancillary specials like "Hataw Pacquiao".
Even overseas Filipinos can join in on the celebration, with TFCDirect! Middle East offering The Battle via pay-per-view. All this is ABS-CBN's way of joining in the Filipino nation's great show of support for one of its most celebrated sons in, perhaps, the biggest fight of his life. (Press Release)
