Malacañang sees victory over legislators in rebellion case
NATIONAL Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales is confident that they would win the rebellion case against some party-list representatives who are identified with Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
Gonzales said "they have a strong case and enough evidence" to support the charges against party-list Representatives Liza Maza of Gabriela, Satur Ocampo, Teodoro Casiño, and Joel Virador of Bayan Muna, and Rafael Mariano and Crispin Beltran of Anakpawis.
Gonzales also rejected a possible ceasefire in politicking and reconciliation with the militant-party-list leaders.
He said reconciliation is not an option as far as those legislators are concerned. He said they would only talk peace, reconciliation and unity with them after the court has decided on their case.
Gonzales added that they are wiling to talk peace, unity and reconciliation only with those who are open to it. Gonzales said the government would not be the first one to offer the hand of reconciliation with the party-list leaders.
He also rejected the denial of the CPP of an alleged alliance between them and some disgruntled soldiers, including some Magdalo Group members.
Gonzales said the communist movement can say anything it wants but the reports and intelligence information they got say otherwise.
He said if they are indeed innocent, then they have nothing to worry about and could face the court confidently.
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said the lifting of the national state of emergency would not weaken the case slapped against those identified as "enemies of the state". (JMR/Sunnex)
