RP muaythai team cops 2 more bronze medals

THE Philippine Muaythai Team Sunday clinched two more medals in the 3rd World Muaythai Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.

Emmanuel Sabrine of the World Muaythai Federation (WMF)-Philippines Motolite-Pagcor muaythai team won the bronze medal with Russian team Bayokov Vladimir in the pin weight division. Thailand's Amon Chuanchom and Uzbekistan's Aziz Eshniyazov garnered the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medallist Roland Claro of Muay Association of the Philippines (MAP) National Team likewise got the bronze medal with Australian Aaron Marshall in the flyweight division which was ruled by Thailand's Nutthapron Aiyarakom and Uzbekistan's Abduvakhid Talipov, who clinched the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Sabrine, together with Wushu SEA Games gold medallist in Myanmar George Lusadan and Jessica Oyang, the 2003-2005 Flyweight Muaythai National Champion and 2003 Muaythai bronze medallist in Thailand Queen's Cup, is a member of the WMF-Phils Motolite-Pagcor Muaythai Team which earlier won the gold in the Aerobics Muaythai category over the Lebanon team which came in second and the Thailand team which obtained the bronze.

Moreover, the RP team also earlier won the bronze medal with the Iran team in the Wai Kru and Muayboran category. Germany won the gold and Kuwait got the silver in the same category. The Philippine Wai Kru and Muayboran Team is composed of Billy Alumno and Sonny Sumales from the MAP.

The 3rd world muaythai championship ended with the Philippines gaining one gold and three bronze medals. Close to 50 countries and more than 500 muaythai boxers have participated in the recently concluded world muaythai tournament.

The WMF-Phils Motolite-Pagcor National Muaythai Team led by Brico Santig sent five players while the MAP national muaythai team, led by Roberto Valdez, likewise sent five players in the World Muaythai Federation (WMF) international championship in Bangkok and Patumthanee, Thailand, from March 18 to 26.
