New managing director of Oracle Philippines named
ORACLE Philippines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oracle Corporation, has announced that Francis Ong has been appointed managing director of Oracle Philippines. In this role, Ong is responsible for managing the company's operations and activities in the Philippines, including long-term business development, customer care, as well as government and community relations. Ong has been in the Philippines since 2003 and is based at Oracle Philippines' head office in Manila.
With immediate effect, Ong replaces Yashi Kant, who has been Oracle Philippines' managing director since 2003. Kant is moving on to assume the position of vice president, technology channel sales for Oracle Asia Pacific based in Singapore.
"We would like to thank Yashi for his commitment and contribution to Oracle Philippines," said Natasak Rodjanapiches, regional managing director for Oracle Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). "The efforts of Yashi and the Oracle Philippines senior management team have continued to solidify Oracle's reputation as a trusted partner in the growth and development of the Philippines economy and software industry. This puts Oracle in good stead for continued growth in the country, under the new leadership of Francis Ong," said Rodjanapiches.
Ong brings more than 14 years of regional work experience across Asia Pacific in various industries, with the last 10 years focused primarily on the information technology (IT) industry. His extensive experience spans alliance & channels management, systems programming and management, marketing, and business development.
Ong joined Oracle in 2001 as regional alliance manager for the South Asia region. In this position, Ong was responsible for managing Oracle's strategic partnerships with global systems integrators (SIs) based in the region. Ong assumed the position of Sales Director for Oracle Philippines in 2003. Prior to assuming his current position as managing director, Ong held the position of General Manager of Applications Channels for the Asean region, based in the Philippines. Before joining Oracle, Ong held various management positions in leading multi-national companies, including J.D. Edwards and Cooper Industries.
"Francis' understanding of the local business environment and extensive experience of working with local partners and customers are keys for success value in his new role," said Rodjanapiches. "He will be working closely with the Oracle Philippines management team to deliver world-class business software solutions and services to Oracle's existing and new customers in the country," he said.

Ong holds a business degree with Distinction from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Australia) and a diploma in business from Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore).
