Darts competition set at Coolnest
WITH 128 darters having joined the inaugural leg of Cool Nest Darts Series 2006 (CNDS) last month, more darters are expected to shoot it out in the second leg of the exciting tournament scheduled at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Cool Nest Bar and Restaurant along Taft Avenue (near La Salle University).
"The uptrend in the number of darters playing in Metro Manila's weekly circuit is due to the start of the Darts Council of the Philippines (DCP) major events like Philmasters Darts Championship 2006 on July 28 to 30 in Baguio City," said DCP tournament Errol Magtubo.
The winners of the singles event of the Philmasters and the National Open Singles championship on August 25 to 27 in Cagayan de Oro City will earn ranking points, which may qualify them for the national team.
The DCP will send a national team to the World Darts Federation Association Asia Pacific Cup 2006 on September 19 to 24 in Malaysia
Raul dela Flor of Makati and Jessie Santos of Marikina were the champions of the first leg. They defeated the tandem of Ricky Santiago of Cavite and Richard Galicio of Pasay during the Finals.
Venue owner Lito Ruiz guarantees a total of P10,000 as prize money and trophies per leg of the tournament. Mode of play is classified doubles 501 best-of-three for the winners' bracket, 701 one-leg for the losers. Registration starts at 7:30 p.m. Welcome drinks will be given to the first 64 registered darters.
