Xavier rules San Juan cage tilt
ROBIN Allan Tan engaged Mikhail Paulino in a shootout and in the end led Xavier School to a runaway 81-54 win recently over Aquinas School in the fifth San Juan Inter-High School basketball tournament at the San Juan gym.
Tan, who finished with 18 points, drew strong support from the rest of his teammates in a balanced attack that put Xavier back on the winning track after losing to defending champion San Juan National High in the opener of the tournament organized by former sports commissioner now San Juan Vice Mayor Leonardo "Boy" Celles.
Philippine Chen Kuang High School, last year's second placer, went through the wringer before putting St. John's Academy away, 63-57, for its third straight win in the tournament
In a battle of teams joining the league for the first time, Camp Crame High School sent Fountain International School crashing to its second straight setback, 86-33.
