Late journalist's body in Camp Aguinaldo for 3-day wake

The family of the late Maximo Soliven on Tuesday afternoon brought the remains of the Philippine Star publisher to Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City where it will lie for a three-day wake.

Soliven's widow, Preciosa, arrived at St. Ignatius Chapel at 2:10 p.m. with the urn containing the ashes of her husband and was welcomed by a number of military officers.

Among those who welcomed the Soliven family were Major General Jaime Buenaflor, Armed Forces deputy chief of staff for civil military operations, and Major General Jose Angel Honrado, Armed Forces deputy chief of staff for reservists and retirees affairs and concurrent military spokesman.

Soliven, a World War II veteran, died of cardiac arrest in Japan last Friday, following a bout with pneumonia.

A mass was held shortly after the remains of Soliven arrived. Among those present were Senator Alfredo Lim and Philippine Star editor-in-chief Isaac Belmonte.

The box-shaped urn of Solive, a World War II veteran, was placed on a table at the foot of the steps leading to the altar. The urn was flanked by two honor guards from the military.

The urn containing Soliven's ashes will be interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio on Friday. (VR/Sunnex)
