GENERAL SANTOS CITY-- Davao City’s Hannah’s Bowlers supported by Dr. John Lim totaled 2,874 pin falls to bag the title of the 1st Mindanao-Visayas Friendship Games Team Bakbakan Matira Ang Matibay 2006 Invitational Bowling Tournament at Tokyok’s Superlanes on National Highway here on Saturday.
The five-man team composed of Rey Morales, Bobby Fordaliza, Glen Perez, Cris Betonio and Boying Magday took home P20,000 cash prize, an 18-inch trophy and a gift pack from tournament sponsor Touch Mobile.
Co-host team Tokyok’s Superlanes 1, owned and managed by Nestor “Jun” Ugsad Jr., registered 2,854 – 20 pin falls behind Hannah’s – to land first runner-up and received P10,000 cash prize, a trophy and gift items from Touch Mobile.
The Tokyok’s Superlanes 1 also cornered the Highest Team Score and its members Pilo Canda, Angie Subaldo, Caloy Morales, Paul Tengosia, Ver Danding and Rudy Almuete received a medal each.
The General Santos City Bowlers’ Association (Grsciba) Energizer squad composed of Nelson Mabaquiao, Joe Agapay, Tweet-tweet Animas, Boy Acanto and Bong Mabaquiao garnered 2,727 pin falls to end second runner-up that entitled it a P7,000 cash prize, trophy and gift pack from Touch Mobile.
Hannah’s Fordaliza was adjudged Highest Pinning at 93, while townmate Nonoy Calida of Davao City’s SL Bowlers was awarded Highest Pinning for registering 154 pin falls. Both received a medal each for the honor.
The following is the final team standing and scores of the losing teams: 4th – Akumaizer of Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba), 2,722; 5th – Polyprod (Daciba), 2,697; 6th – Sultan Kudarat Bowlers Association-PGODBA, 2,680; 7th –Areca’s 1-Davao Oriental Duckpin Bowlers Association (Dodba), 2,651; 8th – SL Bowlers (Daciba), 2,620; 9th – Daproba-CLVR-ELT (Tagum City), 2,572; 10th – Tokyok’s Superlanes 2, 2,547; 11th – Sunday Bowlers Club of Tagum City (Daproba), 2,536; 12th – DCCM (Gesciba) – 2,522; 13th – Areca’s RMGS (Dodba), 2,512; 14th – Sunday Bowlers Club (Gesciba), 2,480; 15th – Kidapawan City Bowlers Association (Kidciba) – 2,464; and 16th – Friday Bowlers Club-Kidciba – 2,398.
The 16 participating teams together with other squads from Luzon and Visayas would see action during the 1st Manny Pacquiao-Kalilangan Festival National Invitational Bowling Tournament from February 20-24 at the Tokyok’s Superlanes, announced City Chief Prosecutor Dick Jamora, president of the Manny Pacquiao Sports Foundation, Inc. that would sponsor the competition.
The newly-formed Sunday Bowlers Club of General Santos City headed by Maning Dadole would host the national kegfest in cooperation with the Tokyok’s Superlanes and the SouthPhil Arts and Sports Promotion. (Press release)
