Monday, January 15, 2007 24 named new provincial, city police directors
THE PNP on Sunday announced the appointment of 24 new provincial and city police chiefs in a middle-level revamp that took effect barely five months before the May elections.
PNP Chief Oscar Calderon said the new revamp had been triggered by provincial and city police chiefs who had to be promoted or re-assigned to other posts after completing a two-year tour of duty.
"As the PNP chief, I am glad to see the younger officers rise up the leadership ladder. The changing of the guard must come with the changing operating environment," Calderon said in announcing the revamp.
The PNP chief also said the assumption of new provincial directors "will insure a clean slate and fresh start when governors are given a new mandate in the forthcoming May 2007 local elections."
The officers affected by the revamp include Senior Superintendent Dominador Aquino who had been named as director of the Isabela Provincial Police Office and Senior Superintendent Odelon Ramoneda, who is the new Bataan Provincial Police Office director.
The other new police chiefs are Senior Superintendents Allen Bantolo, Nueva Ecija; Kieth Singian, Pampanga; Fidel Posadas, Cavite; Felipe Rojas, Laguna; Agrimero Cruz, Mindoro Oriental; Victor Deona, Masbate; Patrocinio Comendador, Cebu City; Edward Inking, Bohol; Carmelo Valmoria, Cebu; Benigno Duran, Aklan; Danilo Pelisco, Misamis Oriental; Benelito Bianzon, Davao del Norte; Jaime Morente, Davao City; Robert Kiunisala, South Cotabato; Vicente Bautista, General Santos City; Juvenile Sulapas, Surigao del Norte; Admirante Josue, Butuan City; Salik Macapantar, Basilan; Alexander Pumecha, Abra; Ulysses Abellera, Apayao; Severino Cruz, Kalinga; and Rogelio Damazo, Mountain Province.
Early this month, Calderon effected a high-level revamp that involved key police officers based at Camp Crame in Quezon City, the PNP National Headquarters, that saw the appointment of Deputy Director General Antonio Billones as PNP deputy chief for operations. (VR/Sunnex)
