Admin senatorial lineup to be known Monday: ally

CLAIMING the candidates themselves are being kept in the dark, an administration senatorial bet said Malacañang will announce its senatorial lineup for the May 14 elections on Monday.

Bukidnon Representative Juan Miguel Zubiri told government-run radio Saturday that even they will be informed about who their "running mates" will be at the last minute "to prevent intrigue."

"Presidential political adviser Gabriel Claudio, who heads our campaign team, won't divulge the composition even to us. He doesn't want us to spill the beans. Look what happened to the opposition," he said.

Zubiri was referring to the United Opposition (UNO), where severalpersonalities aired various speculations about the opposition senatorial lineup and supposedly caused "intrigues".

Wrangling over marginalization and supposed dynasties had seen opposition stalwarts Francisco Tatad, Vicente Sotto III, and Teresa Oreta leave the UNO camp.

Zubiri and Presidential chief of staff Michael Defensor, along with Ilocos Sur Governor Luis Singson and Representative Gilbert Teodoro, have so far been "confirmed" as administration bets.

"We intend to file our certificates of candidacy on February 7 or 8. So Claudio told us he'll disclose the composition of our lineup a day before. We might meet on the matter on Monday," Zubiri said. (JMR/Sunnex)
