DHL country manager Lawrence Llamzon said he met with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) chief Lilia de Lima recently to discuss the setting-up of DHL outlets in the economic and freeport zones.
“You will see more of us in the freeport and economic zones this second quarter,” Llamzon told reporters.
He said exploring Peza zones is in their agenda this year and part of their development programs after beating 14 countries in the recently concluded DHL’s Asia Pacific Country of the year awards held in Singapore last month.
“For us the challenge is how to find ways to be more efficient and creative otherwise we would be left behind,” Llamzon said.
He said the presence of a shipper or logistic firm like DHL is important to investment in the freeport and ecozones.
Llamzon said DHL has allocated US$30 million as investment in the Philippines for a five-year plan and expecting a growth of 10 to 12 percent in the coming years.
At least 20 more DHL retail outlets will be opened this year. When DHL set up business in the country, they opened an initial 10 outlets. (MSN/Sunnex)
