Saturday, June 16, 2007 Non-rated darts tilt precedes Philcup Darts 2007 in Baguio
THE much-awaited Philippine Cup Championship 2007 kicked off Friday with the Cocoy David Cup, a non-rated singles event at the Cozy Nook Restaurant along Magsaysay Avenue in Baguio City.
The event served as a warm up tournament for the Philippine Cup (Philcup) 2007 men’s team of four doubles and singles events plus the women’s pair and singles event also at the same venue Saturday and Sunday.
Supporting Philcup 2007 are San Miguel Beer, Winmau Darts, Terton Craft, Toby’s and Cozy Nook Restaurant. Philcup 2007 is a Darts Council of the Philippines (DCP) ranking and rating tournament and is hosted by Baguio Darters Association, Inc. (BDAI).
The singles event of Philcup 2007 is a qualifying event for DCP members to join the national pool from for the World Darts Federation Asia Pacific Cup in September 2008 in New Zealand.
The next big event is a back-to-back steel tip and soft tip doubles tournament to be held at Metro Manila’s newest and coolest venue, the Puyat Sports Coastal Lanes at the Uniwide Mall along Coastal Road in Paranque City on June 20 and 21.
Paul Lim, a Singaporean who is the first Asian to check out with nine-perfect darts on a televised match, will grace the tournaments.
