Shell to put up 50 stations with new look

OIL giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation is building 50 more service stations in various parts of the country this year which will showcase the new look of the company.

Sammy de Guzman, Shell vice president for retail, said the construction of additional stations is part of the expansion plans of the company in a bid to further improve its market share.

“We are making our stations look brighter and friendlier looking,” he told reporters during the launching of its new fuel economy products.

De Guzman said they have already started the repackaging of their service stations with the first station that carries their new look built in Lipa, Batangas and two others in Mindanao.

He said they expect to complete the new look of Shell’s service stations nationwide in 2009.

Shell currently controls 33 percent of the retail market and expects to further increase its market share with the repackaging of their service stations and implementation of its other projects.

“We want to maintain our leadership in the retail market or even improve it,” he added.

Aside from the new look of Shell, the oil firm also launched its new economy fuels, which give motorists about 10 percent savings in fuel usage.

De Guzman said the new fuel formula will be offered in both diesel (Shell Dieseline Ultra) and gasoline (Super Unleaded, Shell Super Premium, Shell Super Unleaded E10) products.

Carl Posadas of Shell fuels category management office, said the new formula for diesel will initially be available in Luzon while the new formula for gasoline have been rolled out in all of Shell’s service stations nationwide.

“The new Shell fuel economy formula contains the so-called Synthetic Viscous Friction Improver, which helps enhance engine efficiency by both friction in moving engine parts and keeping engines clean,” he said.

Posadas also said after appropriate logistical preparations to house the new diesel blend, they would be able to offer it to motorists to all parts of the country before the end of the year.

He added that they are likewise talking with possible partners to offer the new products. (MSN/Sunnex)
