Malacañang defends 12-peso wage hike for metro workers
PRESS Secretary Ignacio Bunye said Tuesday the P12 increase in minimum wage for Metro Manila workers is “allowable” under the present economic set-up in the country.
Bunye said the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) of Metro Manila had carefully studied its decision.

“That’s supposed to be deliberated by all members of the wage board and all things are considered, I believe that is what is called for by our current economic circumstances,” he said.
He added that it is expected that some sectors would not be entirely satisfied with the decision but the tripartite board is composed of representatives of the government, the employers, and the labor sector, which means all concerns were taken into account. (JMR/Sunnex)
