August 20 declared a special non-working day

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared August 20 as a special non-working day, in lieu of August 21, which is Ninoy Aquino Day and which falls on a Tuesday, as part of the government's holiday rationalization scheme (Republic Act 9492).

Arroyo, in issuing Proclamation 1353, said all activities in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day would still be observed on August 21, the real holiday.

The President also said there is no need to move November 30 and December 30 to the nearest Mondays because November 30 already falls on a Friday and December 31 is already a non-working holiday under RA 9492.

She said the two holidays should be observed on their regular days. (JMR/Sunnex)
