Thursday, August 16, 2007 2 foreigners nabbed for selling fake drugs
TWO Korean nationals have been arrested by elements of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) over the weekend for alleged involvement in the sale of counterfeit drugs.
CIDG chief Edgardo Doromal identified those apprehended as Youn Kyung Kwon, 32, manager of the TAI Handicraft and Choeng Joeng, 43, a salesman of the store, both residents of Legaspi Towers along Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
Doromal said the two were arrested by elements of the CIDG in Pasay City based on a warrant issued by court officials. "They were named in the search warrant applied by elements of the CIDG," he added.
The operation resulted in the seizure of at least P500,000 worth of pharmaceutical drugs such as shark cartilage, plamax, multivitamins, noni capsures, hepa-tri capsules, paragon albu-max capsules, children's vitamins, and noni powder.
The Koreans were not able to present any document from the Bureau of Food and Drugs (Bfad) to engage in the sale of the pharmaceutical products. Charges have been filed by the CIDG against the suspects before the Pasay City prosecutor's office.
Doromal said the two Koreans have been doing their trade at the Citem 3 at the PNB Financial Center along Buendia Avenue in Pasay City. (VR/Sunnex)
