Tuesday, November 13, 2007 3 hurt in Las Piñas robbery
THREE persons were injured including a bank teller and a security guard when still unidentified men seized an armored van of the Banco de Oro in a daring robbery in Las Piñas City on Monday.
Las Piñas Police Chief Amado Empiso said the robbery happened at a Shell gasoline station along J. Aguilar Street, Pulang Lupa Dos near the Southville International School at 11:45 a.m. Monday.
He identified the wounded victims as Manuel Nato, security guard of the Centennial Eagle Security Agency assigned to the bank; Joseph Cibete, the bank teller; and certain Richard Garcia who was hit by stray bullets while filling up his tank at the gasoline station.
The victims, who sustained gunshot wounds to the various parts of their bodies, were brought to the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital for treatment.
Officer-on-case Richard Bagayo said Nato and Cibete have just left the Select Convenience Store carrying the P800,000 in cash they had just collected and about to be taken to the armored van bearing license plate ZCT-720 for delivery to the bank when the armed men suddenly appeared and announced the robbery.
Bagayo said the robbers fired at the two when they refused to give the money and tried to put up a fight.
Witnesses said the thieves then left the crime scene onboard three motorcycles but police said they were not able to jot down the plate numbers.
Empiso said he has already ordered an intensive manhunt against the robbers who fled towards an unknown destination. (AH/Sunnex)
