Customs office undergoes minor reshuffle

THE reorganization at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has started with the reshuffling of its eight employees and hiring of 10 additional police agents.

BOC Commissioner Napoleon Morales said the reappointment of Customs personnel is part of the bureau's goal to meet its 2008 revenue target, which is pegged at P254 billion.

"The transfer of officials was based on a fair assessment of their individual performance, in the case of the officials, their reassignment will help in effectively performing the functions.

Ma. Lourdes Mangaoang, chief of the bureau's x-ray scanning project, said the first official to be transferred was Manila International Container Port (MICP) x-ray field officer Renato Palgan, who will now manage the Port Of Cebu, replacing Gino Minguillan who was transferred as assistant field officer.

MICP x-ray inspector Virgilio Mupas was transferred as assistant field officer, replacing Pedro Gutierrez who was transferred as MICP x-ray field officer.

On the other hand, four police officers were reshuffled following the appointment of Customs Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) director Nicasio Radovan Jr. who replaced retired Police General Nestorio Gualberto.

Major Camilo Cascolan Jr., former district commander of MICP-ESS, is now the head of the Intelligence and Operations Office replacing Major Isabelo Tibayan III who was transferred to La Union as district commander.

MICP district deputy commander Major Marlon Alameda was transferred as head of the ESS-MICP while Lieutenant Ferdinand Algenio was removed from Intelligence and Operations Office and transferred as MICP-ESS deputy commander.

Customs Police Division director Jose Yuchongco said the ESS hired 10 additional agents to beef up their P5,000-strong personnel nationwide.

The newly hired Special Agents 1 are Danny Javier Mella, Manuel Zurbito Jr., Nanette Austria, Peluchi Cruz, Feljun Mendoza Roxas, Arjyl Revereza, Byron Carbonnel, Alfredo Ante Jr., Richard Comia, and Dexter Visperas. (FP/Sunnex)
