Japanese pedophile deported

A CONVICTED Japanese pedophile was ordered to be deported Friday by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

The 71-year-old Yukkotoshi Matsushita was convicted and jailed for raping an eight-month-old girl in Parañaque City more than six years ago.

BI Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said the Japanese national was deported to Japan and was placed in the immigration blacklist.

Matsushita was turned over to the bureau recently by the Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) after he was discharged from the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa.

Malacañang granted the Japanese national a conditional pardon.

The foreigner was convicted by a Parañaque court on June 8, 2007, and was sentenced to 10 to 14 years in prison.

The court found probable cause to indict him for raping and sexually abusing the eight-month-old niece of his live-in partner at their residence in Sucat, Parañaque on October 1, 2001.

The BI is mandated to facilitate the deportation of convicted foreign criminals who have completed their sentence or who have been pardoned or paroled. (FP/Sunnex)
