INAH Felicia Revilla, eldest daughter of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and actress Lani Mercado, disclosed the reason why she suddenly decided to marry non-showbiz boyfriend Vince del Rosario (childhood friend).
In an interview, Inah admitted that she was pregnant which made her decide to the knot this May 28 at the Manila Cathedral.
At first, Lani was hesitant to reveal the pregnancy of her daughter saying the details should come from the camp of del Rosario. However, Inah decided to disclose her present situation thinking that the people might later know.
Lani again showed her tough motherly image by maintaining her posture amid controversies in her family and professional life and understanding the state of her daughter, whom she admitted most close to her being the eldest.
As an initial reaction of a mother, she said she cried her eyes out when she first learned about the pregnancy of her daughter, when she and Senator Bong were in the US.
“My greatest fear is how to tell Bong and how will he react to it,” she said. She then revealed that Senator Bong was so upset when he knew thinking that among her daughters Inah will not get marry early.”
Lani recalled her birthday wish for Inah at her 18th birthday in October 2007, telling the lady not to get married early just like her.
The Revillas seemed to accept the faith of Inah, as they conveyed support and encouragement to the girl in their interviews.
Lani added that although it was difficult for Bong to accept the matter, he and Inah had talked about the situation and ironed things out.
“It’s not easy for a father to let go of his first daughter,” Lani said.
Meanwhile, Lani has been very vocal in accepting her soon to be son-in-law -- del Rosario. She also appealed not to trouble the del Rosario’s family as they are not showbiz people.
Lani showed enthusiasm and fervor in taking care of her second grandchild. However, she said she still feels sad when she thinks Inah will be living separate lives together with del Rosario.
Inah, meanwhile, apologized for her early pregnancy saying although she admitted that she made her family upset about her decision she will make up for her lapses and promised to make her family proud of her in time.
Inah is a first year Legal Management student at the Ateneo de Manila University while del Rosario is said to be a businessman from a well-off family. (JRDB/Sunnex)
