Pinay child singer to guest at Oprah

WITH the success of her guesting in The Ellen DeGeneres show, Filipino child singer Charice Pempengco will soon be invading the floor of one of the most popular TV shows in the US -- Oprah.

On May 8, the 15-year-old Laguna native singer Charice will be expecting to again showcase her talent in front of Oprah Winfrey’s guests.

Her visits to different world prominent shows are considered by many Filipinos as remarkable and will also serve as a window to recognize Filipino talents.

Charice became world’s famous when her supporters posted her video in a talent contest in Korea on Youtube.com. She was then invited to various shows in Asia, the US and even Europe.

On December 19, the upturn of Charice career was made as she was personally invited by Ellen DeGeneres to her famous show in Los Angeles, California. Even the American TV host was amazed and struck by Charice rendition of “And I am telling you” by Jennifer Hudson and “I will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Ellen also replaced the singer’s iPod with an iPod Touch, as the host found out that Charice’s iPod was lost during her flight to the US.

Charice also sang the Philippine National Anthem during the boxing match of Gerry Peñalosa and Rey Boom Boom Bautista against Mexican boxers last May 6 at the Araneta Coliseum. (JRDB/Sunnex)
