TOURISM Secretary Joseph Ace Durano got his second tourism-related post after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo named him general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA), Malacañang said Saturday.
Presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye said Durano will handle both posts in a concurrent capacity, after PTA general manager Robert Dean Barbers' term expired.
"Ang termino ng dating GM Robert Dean Barbers nag-expire na (Former GM Barbers' term has expired). Secretary Durano will be both secretary of tourism and concurrently the GM of PTA," Bunye said on government-run dzRB radio.
On the other hand, he said there is no appointment yet for the newly created Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The law for CAA decreed there should be a head for it by May 4.
The CAA was created to address aviation security concerns raised some months back by the United States when it downgraded the Philippines' aviation security classification. (JMR/Sunnex)
