Friday, May 09, 2008 Cebu Yearbook fills racks of more NB outlets By Jill D. Beltran
ON ITS ninth year of publication, The Cebu Yearbook continued to provide the local and international enthusiasts its comprehensive and vibrant documentation of contemporary accounts about Cebu economy, people, politics, culture, living, arts and history.
The National Bookstore (NB) in Cebu witnessed the yearbook’s success as it has been the home for the annual book for years since its first launching in April 2001 by Sun.Star Publishing, Inc. And now, the 2008 edition of Cebu Yearbook has given an additional NB shelves wherein people from different parts of Manila could get a chance to see the awe-inspiring photographs and thought-provoking articles embodying the Queen City of the South.
Last Tuesday, NB owner Socorro Ramos formally accepted the latest edition of the glossy coffee table magazine presented to her by Sun.Star assistant vice president (AVP) for circulation Rene Besido.
Ramos said the yearbook fascinates her love in superb beauty of tourism spots and festivals in Cebu like the Sinulog. If in the past years, Cebu Yearbook is only available in NB branches in Cebu, now NB outlets in Alabang, Best Sellers, Filinvest, Glorietta, Greenhills, Katipunan, Market! Market!, Quezon Avenue, Robinsons Ortigas, Robinsons Ermita, Robinsons Pioneer, Shangri-La Plaza, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall will also carry and display the yearbook from this year onwards.
This year’s edition focuses generally on tourism. It features the evolution of tourism in Cebu through time and the changes impact on Cebu economy, culture and lifestyle. It also focuses on the irony of tradition and technology as it gives insight into why some tourists decide to settle in Cebu. The Cebu Yearbook which penned by Cebu’s top journalists and writers appeals to multinational corporations and investors who constantly seek current, definitive and reliable information on the Philippines’ fastest growing economy.
It is also an effective reference on Cebu’s milestones in politics, trade and industry. It also summarizes the all-time favorite and hottest tourist destinations in Cebu like museums, churches, monuments, beaches, restaurants, hotels and other conveniences while touring in Cebu.
For that, the yearbook also mesmerizes balikbayans and tourists as it serves as a guide for them in searching for innovative and reliable information about Cebu.
For years, it also a useful reference for universities, schools and learning institutions. About 10,500 copies of the yearbook are disseminated in the market every year. The distribution of yearbook could be through subscription, retail sales and special promotions.
For the international and domestic sales, copies could also be purchased online through the Sun.Star Network Online at www.sunstar.com.ph.
