Piolo, Sam drop libel raps v. 2 writers

AFTER seven months of dispute, actors Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby and showbiz writers Lolit Solis and Veronica Samio decided to kiss and make up.

The four chose to irrevocably settle disagreements in a special hearing at the sala of Judge Jose Mendoza of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch (RTC) Branch 85.

Accompanied by their respective lawyers, Piolo and Sam came in the court escorted by their manager Johnny Manahan.

Lolit relented what she had written in her article in Pilipino Star Ngayon on October 15 as she also apologized to the two matinee idols, said in a television interview.

On the other hand, the two complainants conceded their P12 million libel suit against the two writers.

“I realized that its better it did not reach into a hearing because she (Lolit) seems like my mom,” Piolo said.

“For that seven months, I was really upset. Johnny Manahan is my friend and I feel like I hurt him,” Lolit said.

Reports said before the settlement of both camps, producer Robbie Tan mediated and convinced all parties to reconcile.

Piolo said her mother is of the same age of Lolit (61) and he “would not want to see a woman of that age in jail” that is why he is “happy and thankful” they had patched things up.

“I am really grateful that they had become understanding and they really showed that they are Christian,” Lolit said.

After the settlement, both camps agreed that they will stop throwing words at each other as they also considered said stint as a start of friendship among them. (JRDB/Sunnex)
