Lani clarifies 'row' with in-laws

WEEKS before Inah Revilla and Vince del Rosario's wedding, rumors were spreading that there has been disagreement stirring between the two families.

In a television interview with Lani Mercado (Inah's mother), she admitted that there were misunderstandings but they had settled it already on May 13 when the del Rosario family personally asked for Senator Bong Revilla's consent concerning Inah.

Since many have been curious on the background of del Rosario's family, many write-ups against them were printed and broadcasted saying George (Vince's father) eagerly forced his son to marry Inah and also doubted his statement that he and Bong are truly close like brothers.

Lani said Bong "has been friends with the del Rosarios for more than 10 years since Bong started in politics."

George believed that people close to Bong were the ones who circulated stories about him while he was in the US for medical check-up.

But then, according to Lani, all has been resolved when George and Bong finally talked to each other and cleared what has been said between each other.

Lani added that everything between their family and the del Rosarios has been settled including the friendship of Bong and George that she confessed that was affected when they knew that Inah was pregnant by Vince.

With regard to del Rosario's participation in wedding preparation, Lani clarified that the reason why their future in-laws did not contribute is because George was in the US for medical check-up together with his wife.

"But what I know, through Vince, they were consulted. However, during that time Vince also avoids to consult them because he is having medical check-up. So as much as possible he doesn't want to stress her father," Lani said.

She likewise confirmed that George gave P2.5 million for the preparation of his son's wedding with Inah and they constantly communicate with each other about the wedding.

When asked if George really bought the future couple a condominium worth P10 million, Lani likewise confirmed it, saying: "I am thankful to him unlike any other marriage today, they are still with their parents' custody but for our children he provides condominium for them."

She also dismissed the issue that George property at Forbes Park was from Revilla's money as she said: "It's George's property. He inherited it from his father. When his father died, I think he acquired a large amount of money. So that also came from del Rosario's hard work and own wealth."

Lani said George also has been Bong's consultant when he is starting off as a senator.

As a message for her future "kumpadre" she said: "George I know that you are just there to also protect your family, there were many write-ups which have been disseminated saying this or that, but at the end of the day us four -- you, Trish (George wife), me and Bong are friends and understand each other. At the end of the day, the relationship of our children that we are all praying would last is more important. Just relax, May 28 is near already, let's all be happy."

For Inah and Vince, Lani said: "To Vince and Inah the time is near. This is the countdown and I know our schedules are now stressful. I wish you both well after all of this, you two will be together. And love each other till death you part. And I am always be here with you Papa Bong when you need us."

Inah and Vince are set to tie the knot on May 28 at the Manila Cathedral. (JRDB/Sunnex)
