Thursday, May 22, 2008 'Wowowee' host dismissal still unclear
A WEEK after the team of ABS-CBN Channel 2 noontime show "Wowowee" returned from their controversial trip to Hawaii, one of the show's co-host Precious Lara Quigaman remains absent in said program.
Based in a Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) report, it said Wowowee main host Willie Revillame personally confirmed that Lara was not anymore part of the show after their Hawaii trip. However, when the news outfit tried to reach Willie, he refused to give any comment.
Earlier reports said Lara was removed from the show because she brought her non-showbiz boyfriend to Hawaii during their overseas show, which is a violation of the company rule prohibiting boyfriends from studio and out of town shows. There are also reports saying the lady host loses concentration when escorted by boyfriend.
However, according to the PEP source, there is no written rule on bringing boyfriends in set. The PEP source added that Willie said Lara has no control with herself when boyfriend is around although the host said Lara's boyfriend doesn't impede her work.
Other co-host of the 2005 Miss International, namely, Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion, and Pokwang are still tight-lip regarding the issue.
According to the beauty queen, she was surprised of her removal from the show and was even more shocked learning that it was caused by her taking a boyfriend in their Hawaii show. For her, she has seen nothing wrong of bringing boyfriend since all expenses came from his boyfriend's own pocket and every host is entitled to bring one companion for free.
Other people, meanwhile, believed that jealousy was the reason why Lara was removed, as she knows Willie likes her yet she brought her boyfriend with her in Hawaii. (JRDB/Sunnex)
