Wednesday, May 28, 2008 Rufa Mae confirms relationship with American suitor
SEXY-actress Rufa Mae Quinto, during her birthday celebration last Sunday under a lie detector test, confirmed deeper relationship with American suitor Bobby Lopez, whom she has exclusively been dating since the past months.
Bobby is a businessman based in Hong Kong who recently visited the actress during one of her tapings.
Although Rufa Mae disclosed that they are officially a couple now, she is still uncertain if they had already a "serious relationship" since she only meet Bobby once a month.
"Saying yes to an American suitor is not that important. They only dated someone they like," she said.
"As a woman I don't want to be hurt and I don't want to expect. I want to say it if it's already sure. And it should also come from the guy's side unfortunately he is not from showbiz," she hesitantly answered personal question from Mo Twister on her birthday.
Exhuming issues from her past relationship, Sweet (talk show host) asked Rufa Mae if she is really willing to reconcile with ex-boyfriend Jay Manolo, which was then hindered when the actor got another girl pregnant.
The actress dismissed the question, saying she is the type of woman who ends a relationship when she already gave up on it.
"I don't easily give up," she said as she admitted that she hardly accepted her break-up with long-time boyfriend Rudy Hatfield, not denying that she tried to mend their relationship. However, when the former basketball player offended her, she knew she had to yield.
"I am praying to God, hoping he could be the one for me but that incident happened," she said.
She likewise said in response to the question of director Joyce Bernal that among her boyfriends "baby boy" (Rufa Mae's endearment to Rudy Hatfield) was the one she mostly loved.
"Of course, we have been together for six years. I grew up with him," she simply said.
Asked if there was a time that she was upset with actor Dennis Trillo who is also one of the actors linked to her, she said yes. She immediately said they already talked about the matter and straightened out things.
As a follow-up question, Rufa Mae was asked if she and ex-boyfriend Dingdong Avanzado had an exchange of cellular phone numbers during the singer's last visit to the Philippines.
She said "no", disclosing that Dingdong was the one who got her number and she did not get the number of the singer who is now staying in the US with wife Jessa Zaragosa.
"He (Dingdong) asked for my number because they were planning to have shows here that I think did not push through as they are allegedly arguing. I don't know if that (number trading) is the reason," she clarified.
Rufa Mae was also asked if there was a time she doubted sexuality of any of her past boyfriends, she said "no" which the detector belied.
The sexy comedienne's friend Diana Zubiri also threw a question for the birthday girl asking if one of the reasons that Rufa Mae broke up with Rudy was because the basketball player vowed to marry her but it did not work out.
She denied it jokingly, saying all her boyfriends promised to marry her.
Meanwhile, as Rufa Mae made through her birthday interrogation, sadness and happiness could be seen in the sexy actress' face.
She said she is having mixed emotions. She's happy and at the same time a little bit upset with some people who are still criticizing her.
"I am hurting. I am actually the type of person who would prefer to have a face to face fight than saying bad things behind my back," she said. (JRDB/Sunnex)
