Stars venture into drifting

ORIGINATED from Japan, drifting is one of the top most favorite sports of some local stars and car enthusiast here.

Last Saturday, a car-drifting event was held in Greenhills, San Juan and was attended by stars and sports buff like Ryan Agoncillo, Bryan Revilla and former beauty queen Maricel Morales.

Drifting refers to a driving technique and a motor sport involving the use of turning one's car sideways. This sport has become a popular motor sport across the world.

"Adrenaline rush and what you didn't normally do when you're driving, you could release it when you're doing the drift," Maricel said who drifted a yellow lowered car.

For Bryan, he said he prefers the sport because "it's full of adrenaline and it's just him and the car, he doesn't think of anything when he is running." "It's fun, it's really fun," he exclaimed as he rode an orange modified auto.

"It's cool when you are on the driver seat and you know it's your turn already, that's it," Ryan said. Judy Ann "Juday" Santos' boyfriend is driving a white customized sports car as he drifted around the center of the circuit.

Drifting is a difficult and dangerous sport, but for Maricel, she just downplayed the risk saying, "Maybe I am not a girl or I have a dare devil side".

Meanwhile, as rumors of Ryan and Juday's looming wedding still lingers, the actor-host was bombarded by superstitious belief that soon-to-be-groom should stay away from danger the sports could bring about.

When pressed to comment on their "upcoming wedding" this year, Ryan said: "Let's just wait for Juday to decide that she wanted to talk about things and then I supposed that's it!" (JRDB/Sunnex)
