Chynna plays villain role in 'Codename: Asero'

YOUNG actress Chynna Ortaleza will play a rogue character in GMA-7's upcoming television series "Codename: Asero" starring Richard Gutierrez.

This is not the first time Chynna will work with Richard as they were both seen in teenage series "Click" and martial arts-inspired "Sugo." However, the young actress will not play Richard's leading lady but instead one of Richard's mortal rivals.

Chynna wholeheartedly accepted the role as she said in a Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) interview that she was excited to play and experiment with the complex role the network had given her.

"When they told me that I will do a villainess role in 'Codename: Asero', I said it's okay. At least, it's different (from her past roles). This is only my second time to play a villain character. The first time was in 'Atlantika'," she said.

The actress added that as part of her preparation for her role she had cut her hair short to stand out on her scenes and be different from Richard's leading ladies with long hair -- Heart Evangelista, Rhian Ramos, and Ehra Madrigal.

Chynna, after a long period of not working with Richard, said she is eager to see how Richard has improved and evolved as an actor since they first worked together in "Click" and as the young actor had played various roles with different talented stars. (JRDB/Sunnex)
