Friday, June 06, 2008 2 Ghanians nabbed for 'using fake credit cards'
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday announced the arrest of two Ghanian nationals using fraudulently acquired credit cards in the spurious trade.
PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director Raul Castaneda identified the suspects as Adjei Ansah Isaac and Isaac Nii Amoo.
Castaneda said the two fell into the hands of the police "after a carefully planned entrapment" conducted at Casa Ivory along J. Zamora Street in Paco, Manila.
He said prior to the arrest, Qube PC, a corporation dealing with computers, went to their office to complain about the Ghanian's alleged fraudulent transactions using credit cards in their purchase of computer products from them.
Qube PC has its business address at Unit 101, CGI Building, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.
On June 1, the Ghanians were presented for inquest proceedings before the Manila Prosecutor Maria Roma Flora Ortiz for violation of Article 315 (swindling/estafa) and violation of Republic Act (RA) 8484 (Access Devises Regulations Act of 1998.)
Ortiz ordered the confinement of the two suspects at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, pending the resolution of their cases. (VR/Sunnex)
