Friday, June 06, 2008 Caloocan cops accused of 'rubout'
A MAN previously linked to a robbery has filed a complaint before the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) against still unidentified Caloocan City policemen for the supposed rubout of his friends and his wounding Thursday dawn.
Glenn Genesolanggo said at least eight Caloocan City policemen and two civilians flagged down the motorcycle he and his friends were riding along Congressional Highway in Camarin, Caloocan City at 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Genesolanggo said the policemen then handcuffed them and were later accused of involvement in a robbery of a trader. He said the policemen took them to different areas in the city until they reached a secluded area where the policemen planned to execute his group.
Genesolanggo survived the supposed rubout. He was able to run though handcuffed but was shot in the leg while his friends -- Archie Javin, Robert Tan, and certain Adoy -- perished. Fearing for his life, Genesolanggo went to the CIDG headquarters in Camp Crame and related his ordeal.
The bodies of Genosolanggo's friends were found by authorities in different areas in Caloocan City, said CIDG Director for the National Capital Region Ericson Velasquez.
At present, the CIDG is still determining the identities of the policemen involved in the incident. They are trying to show to Genosolanggo the pictures of all Caloocan City policemen in an effort to help him identify the perpetrators.
Velasquez said they are going to place under the CIDG's "restrictive custody" any Caloocan City policemen who may be identified by Genosolanggo even as he assured the public that there will be no cover-up or whitewash in the investigation.
Genosolanggo admitted that he was once involved in a robbery sometime in 2006. However, he said since amicably settling the case, he has not done anything contrary to law. (VR/Sunnex)
