Saturday, June 21, 2008 'My Girl' spices up with supporting stars
ABS-CBN 2 local adaptation of hit Korean series "My Girl" continues to gain more supporters from different parts of the globe and becomes the new favorite daily habit.
"My Girl" airing every weeknights still rules the airwaves since besides Kimerald (Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson), they are also joined by three young stars, Alex Gonzaga, Regine Angeles and David Chua.
Although considered new in the industry, this does not stop their natural talent, exceptional artistry and colorful personalities from shining through, said in a press statement.
Alex was first known by the public in the teen series "Gokada Go" as Alex Sy, the fashionable and pretty girl.
Although Alex is known to be comedic and humorous, she has also shown her talent in drama through "Pangarap na Bituin" and in two monthly episodes of "Your Song".
In her newest project in "My Girl", Alex portrays Christine, the funny, wacky and sometimes tactless best friend of Jasmine (Kim). Christine (Alex) and Jasmine are involved in the tour guide business, but she also works as a beautician in her mother's parlor.
Although she's a compulsive shopper who usually uses all of her money up to the last centavo, she is also a dependable friend to Jasmine.
Regine, meanwhile, is a commercial model turned actress. Modeling at the age of 16, Regine still continues her studies taking up Interior Design.
She got her biggest break in the industry when she won as the grand winner in the Be Bench modeling search and from there, she was chosen to play one of the agents in the action series "Palos".
In her second teleserye, she is Shiela, Julian's (Gerald) executive assistant who is very serious, trustworthy and loyal. She is also in charge of finding the lost granddaughter of Lolo Greg (Ronaldo Valdez), and will be the love interest of Jeffrey (David).
One of the newest members of Star Magic, David Chua was discovered when he won Mr. Fine Arts and Mr. Ideal Thomasian 2008 in a pageant at the University of Sto. Tomas.
Also a student himself, David already has numerous commercials under his belt, and was also chosen as one of Cosmopolitan Magazine's 69 Bachelors in 2007.
"My Girl" is David's first teleserye wherein he plays Jeffrey, Christine's twin brother and Jasmine's best friend.
Optimistic, a bit naive and somewhat nerdy, he serves as the driver in their touring business. Even though he knows that they have opposite status in life, Jeffrey can't help but fall in love with Shiela.
Three industry newbies who will surely go far in their careers. Three stars to be definitely watched out for. Three personalities who will add fun and drama in "My Girl". (JRDB/Sunnex)
