Unknown to many, dengue is now considered a year-round disease, and people tend to take things for granted until they are affected.
In the Saturday edition of "Salamat Dok" this week, Dr. Eric Tayag of the Department of Health-National Epidemiology Center (DOH-NEC) will talk about the dangers of dengue, said in a press statement.
He will also debunk common misconceptions about the management and prevention of the disease.
Aside from dengue, teen obesity is another health concern as the Food and Nutrition Research Institute's (FNRI) reported that the number of overweight Filipino adolescents has doubled from 1993 to 2005.
This Sunday, "Salamat Dok" host Cheryl Cosim will report on the separate findings by private Filipino doctors that show students in urban private schools have a higher prevalence of obesity.
Dr. Sioksan Chan-Cua, an expert in the study of obesity among children and adolescents, will tackle these phenomena. Tam Mateo will provide a naturopathic approach to addressing youth obesity.
"Salamat Dok" airs on ABS-CBN every Saturday at 6 a.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m. (JRDB/Sunnex)
