Shirley to appear in primetime series
By Jill Beltran

MULTI-talented actress Shirley Fuentes is back to do a supporting role in ABS-CBN 2's upcoming horror series of "Sineserye Presents: The Susan Roces Cinema Collection" dubbed "Florinda".

Shirley said she will play the role of Rita, who is a naughty and tactless officemate of Florinda, top-billed by award-winning actress Maricel Soriano.

"My role is to cheer ate Maricel (Soriano), since her boyfriend died based in the story. Just like her (Maricel) past roles, my character here is loud and indiscreet," she said.

"Florinda" will be the third and concluding chapter of ABS-CBN 2 remakes of veteran actress Susan Roces' classic films. It will be premiered sometime in July.

The last two sineseryes were "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" starred by Kris Aquino, and the recently defunct series "Maligno" which is a comeback project of Claudine Barreto after she gave birth.

Other cast of the series includes Jay Manalo to play as Maricel's leading man, and actor-comedian Pooh.

Aside from a primetime series, Shirley is also busy promoting her new instructional digital videodisc (DVD) for Latin dancing.

Since she won a title from a ballroom dance competition in ABC-5, she decided to do a promotional DVD featuring Latin dancing like cha-cha, rumba, and jive.

Meanwhile, in August, Shirley will also promote her recording album to be released by Galaxy Records.

She said most songs from her album are composed by highly acclaimed composer, Vehnee Saturno.

The album has no title yet, but they are thinking to release it as a self-titled album, according to Shirley.

"As of now, the album has 10 songs which is a combination of loves songs and some danceable Latin and samba music," she shared.

Other than acting, dancing, and singing, Shirley is also the newly tapped endorser of a tea product.

With all these niches, Shirley really proves that she is a one heck of a "multi-talented" woman.
