Friday, June 27, 2008 Isabela town is new dumping area for stolen motorcycles: police
THE Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has discovered that the town of Jones in Isabela Province is the new dumping ground for carnapped or stolen motorcycles from Metro Manila.
This after the HPG's Regional Highway Patrol Unit No. (HPU) 2 based in the province received reliable information that certain Restie Curutan, a native of Jones, Isabela and presently residing at 52-A Dagupan Street, San Francisco Del Monte, Quezon City, sold about 50 units of motorcycles stolen in Metro Manila to different buyers in the said town.
HPU 2 coordinated with the Jones police headed by Chief Inspector Jesus Nape, Jr. and chairman Manuel Galla of Barangay Napalliong in the town and conducted operation thereat resulting in the apprehension of four stolen motorcycles which include Honda Wave 125s and a Mitsukoshi motorcycle registered in the name of Restie Juan.
During a follow-up operation in Barangay Daligan also in Jones, two other
Suzuki and Honda motorcycles, both registered in the name of Juan, were also recovered.
The owners of the motorcycles, all residents of Jones, Isabela, immediately surrendered it upon being informed that the said motorcycles were stolen.
The units are now impounded at HPU offices in Santiago City, Isabela while investigation is going on.
"We will be conducting more operations in Isabela Province to recover the other motorcycles and stop the nefarious trade of the suspect," said HPG Director Perfecto Palad. (VR/Sunnex)
