Gian Magdangal talks about being a father
By Jill Beltran

TWO months after girlfriend Sheree gave birth to Gian Haley, Gian Magdangal said he enjoys being a father to their first son.

Although he admitted he is having difficulty balancing his time with work and taking care of their baby, Gian said he is giving his best to be a good father to his son.

"I am very happy. I enjoy being a father to him but at the same, it's hard (because of work)," he said.

Gian now knows how to change diaper, prepares milk, and makes his son burp.

"Of course, I learned from his yaya!" the singer exclaimed.

He also said he wakes up every early morning to check on Gian Haley as he cries.

Meanwhile, he said Sheree is also a hands-on mother to their child.

After taking a maternity rest, Sheree is back to work in "Codename: Asero" as per Gian. Thus, they carefully manage their time to be able to take care of their baby.

"When she has taping, I'm at home to take care of Gian. And when I have tapings and rehearsals, she's with him. But if we both have work, my parents take care of the baby," he said.

Sheree has been known as a sexy actress. Now that she has a baby, Gian said he will still allow his girlfriend to do sexy roles but with limitations.

When asked if they are planning to get married, Gian said "definitely" but not this year. "We still need to save for our future, of course."

"As of now, we even both need to work for our family," he added.

The couple is now busy preparing for their son's baptism.

Gian is a regular performer in GMA-7's musical variety show "SOP" every Sunday.

Aside from SOP, he is also doing a play "Westside Story" with Karylle and Christian Bautista, slated to begin in September and October at the Meralco Theater.

"I am excited to do this. I have always been a theater actor and performer. I think after all these years, I want to go back and do something (on stage)," he said.

Gian sang "Awit Ni Daboy" during the 24th Star Awards for Movies together with Pops Fernandez and Erik Santos. The song was composed by Tirso Cruz III, dedicated to late friend Rudy Fernandez who was bequeathed with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Philippine Movie Press Club.
