After a brief press conference at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia), the two went straight to Quiapo Church where Manny usually visits whenever he is back from his matches in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"He is first in everything. Lord is number one. There would be no Manny Pacquiao if not for Him," the humble champion said in a television interview last Saturday.
Even holding four boxing titles will not change Manny's disposition in life.
"Nothing's changed. I added honor to our country. I set history but still I am not changed. I am not dazzled by money. I am merely thankful for all the blessings he is giving me, but I am not dazzled. I am focusing not to change my character and what I always do is to be closer to God," Manny said in the vernacular.
"The success and history are honors for all the Filipinos. Americans recognize us if we go to the US. So, my success is an honor for us. Let us thank the Lord because He gave as such an honor like this. We are respected here and now even in the whole world," the modest Pambansang Kamao added.
Meanwhile, Jinky in her interview shared that she was not distressed by Manny's fight with Diaz, as she is confident that Manny could win the match.
"Of course I am happy. Manny was not so hit on the face, he is still handsome," she said.
"I was thinking Diaz was not that strong. At first round, I knew Manny will win the fight. I thought it will only last for three rounds. But I was slightly nervous because of his built. Now I know that it was not in height, it's how strong you punch and the toughness of your body. Of course, Manny is stronger," Manny's proud wife said.
With all the write-ups about Manny's total winnings, Jinky said she is "afraid to go out worrying about her safety."
"Yes. Sometimes I am afraid to go out. Also in newspapers, they are the ones who compute Manny's prize money. It was even bigger than what we received. Sometimes I said it's more okay if they give us what's written in the news. It's not true, it was a large amount they're saying," she clarified.
"I am afraid to go out because of what they are writing. But that's okay, we have no foes," she said.
Jinky also shared their plan to fly back to General Santos (Manny's hometown) on Monday and Manny's intention to continue his study.
"We are planning to go back to Gensan on Monday. He will be welcomed in Gensan also and we are planning to go to Bacolod and Iloilo. He will also go back to school, if he has time he will continue his studies," Jinky related.
Manny will be busy next week as he plans to do a fund-raising concert for the people affected by typhoon Frank. The concert will be supported by GMA-7 management. (JRDB/Sunnex)
