CA nullifies Vhong, Bianca's marriage

AFTER three years of deliberations, the Court of Appeals (CA) has upheld the decision of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) nullifying the marriage of comedy actor Vhong Navarro and Bianca Lapus.

The CA ruling showed that Lapus was "psychological incapacitated" during her relationship with Navarro.

It added that Lapus dated some men before and during her marriage with Vhong.

Navarro was a bit saddened with the unpleasant findings of the court against his ex wife.

Lapus's lawyer, Donn Bacay said what hurts his client is the finding that "she was not a good wife and a mother to her child."

He said, Lapus has to appeal for extra money to sustain the needs of her son by Vhong.

"Navarro is giving about P10,000 a month but it's not enough for the growing child," he said.

Lapus in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) however said, she is not aware her lawyer said such statements.

She clarified that she never asked for a single centavo from Navarro.

She said his ex-husband cried when she talked to the actor on their son having a fight with a classmate.

The former actress also defended that "at the time Vhong filed the annulment case against me I was busy attending to my mother who at that time was struggling with cancer."

She said all those concerns were the reasons why she failed to participate in the court proceedings.

She said she was not privy to the grounds her ex-husband presented in court.

"I am not saying that I am not glad that my marriage was annulled but considering my non-participation, I don't think it's fair to speculate on my shortcomings, especially with matters that relate to my being unfit as a mother. The public will hear my side of the story soon," she said.

Navarro refuses to comment on the issue. (JRDB/Sunnex)
