Dannieboi, a new recording artist of Viva Records, says he is excited to introduce to Filipinos his own brand of music he has compiled in one album dubbed "Soundtrip".
Through his desire to give listeners a fresh kind of music, he creatively entwined different music genres like techno, hip-hop and R&B in his songs.
"The album is called 'Soundtrip' because it is actually a mixture of different genres. So it's a very unique sound. So I called it 'Soundtrip' because you're going to have a trip over the sound," the newest R&B singer said.
The album features seven tracks: "Don't Need to Know," "At Your Service," "Dance Floor" featuring Klumcee, "You Were Meant For Me," "I Wanna Be With You" featuring Hi-C, "Shake That Thing" featuring Beatmonx, and "Stop It".
All the songs, he said, are about love, friendship and heartaches.
Since he was young, Dannieboi said music has been part of his life and it is the thing that he cannot live without.
He said he loves to explore every genre of music.
He described his music as eclectic and experimental.
Although Dannieboi already released a self-titled album last April 2007, he considered "Soundtrip" as his official debut album in the country.
"I produced my first album independently and it was distributed by Synergy. I don't really consider that as an album. Although, I did that seriously also, I wrote all my songs, but it was like something I made to get somebody else's attention," he said.
Dannieboi has recently signed a three-year contract with Viva Records.
Now that he released his album under a major music label, he is confident "of pushing OPM to be more popular in an R&B genre."
Dannieboi collaborated with Dice and K-9 in producing his album.
He will be shooting a video for his first single "I Wanna Be With You" with Dice and K-9 female vocalist Hi-C.
He will also be touring with the hip-hop group sometime in August.
He said he will outdo his first music video "Shake That Thing" featuring Gwen Garci with his upcoming video.
Offering something new to the Filipino music lovers is his major goal.
He is hoping for a warm welcome although he is not familiar with the Filipino language which some people would prefer.
Asked how he would want to be recognized here as an artist, he said he prefers not to be associated with any R&B artist.
He wants to be known as a singer who loves to sing and whose heart is dedicated to music."
"It's natural since (I was) young I felt something, that I wanted to perform. I feel like it is just part of me..." he related.
Dannieboi before coming to the Philippines took a Business Management course for two years, which he puts on hold for his career.
Dannieboi said his career here in the Philippines is just his springboard for his plan to enter and be known in the US.
Dannieboi will be officially launched as an artist in SOP this month.
Aside from singing, he also appeared in several special events here and modeled various clothing and shoe brands like Nike, Adidas, BUM Equipment and Caterpillar.
