THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) has dismissed the case filed against GMA Network based in Bacolod by a former employee for lack of merit.
Labor arbiter Romulo Sumalinog dismissed the case filed by Donald Nojas after finding that the television network's termination of Nojas's employment was for just causes, said in a press statement.
It added that the Regional GMA (RGMA) Network terminated Nojas on March 30, 2007 due to sexual harassment, negligence of duty, and lack of trust and confidence.
The sexual harassment case against Nojas stemmed from the complaint filed by a beat reporter of RGMA on February 27, 2007 before the Office of the Assistant City Prosecutor of Bacolod.
In numerous occasions, Nojas was found guilty by RGMA of failing to report for duty without approved leave of absences or without notifying his superiors.
Nojas was also found guilty by RGMA of compromising the interest of the company as he was hosting a radio program of a competing station while he was still connected with RGMA.
Nojas was among the witnesses of ABS-CBN 2 who accused GMA Network of manipulating the TV ratings in Bacolod.
A GMA press statement said the network has filed a case for damages against ABS-CBN 2 in relation to the issue. (JRDB/Sunnex)
