Friday, August 01, 2008 ABS-CBN, DZMM dominate Rotary Club Journalism Awards
ABS-CBN and DZMM bagged four out of five awards for broadcast given by the Rotary Club of Manila in the recent 2007 Journalism Awards.
ABS-CBN Channel 2 won TV Station of the Year while ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs chief correspondent Korina Sanchez won the Broadcast Journalist of the Year for TV.
"The men and women of ABS-CBN are sincerely honored and humbled by this award," said ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio during Wednesday's awarding ceremony at the Manila Polo Club.
"We are encouraged because we know that with every trail that we blaze, we help connect more Filipinos to one another worldwide," Santos-Concio said.
DZMM, on the other hand, was proclaimed Radio Station of the Year.
Its station manager Angelo Palmones won Broadcast Journalist of the Year for Radio.
This is the third time DZMM won the said award.
Launched in 1966, the Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards was organized to honor outstanding contributions of individuals in print, television and radio. (JRDB/Sunnex)
