AYALA-owned Globe Telecoms Inc. is making more affordable the much-awaited Apple iPhone 3G to all its customers as it further reduced its prices through various plans.
Menchie Cruz, Globe's corporate communications chief, said Apple iPhone 3G plans would include free SMS (short messaging), free voice minutes, free internet, and free access to WIZ and Wi-Fi.
She said Globe existing subscribers as well as new subscribers "can still enjoy a zero-percent interest Apple iPhone 3G arrangement with Globe's bank partners to make purchasing more convenient and easy on the pocket."
For the prepaid subscribers, the cost will now be P37,599 for 8GB and P43,799 for 16GB. The plan comes with P1,000 load spread over five months - that's P200 per month.
Also, the first 1,000 phonekit purchase will get P1,000 additional discount on Apple iPhone 3G price.
"Globe is very excited with the launch of Apple iPhone 3G and would like to have more phones into our customer's hands," added Cruz.
For Apple iPhone plan subscribers, Cruz said Globe has arranged five packages which starts at P1,599 to as high as P4,999.
The plan P1,999 will enjoy 100 minutes free voice calls; and P5.50 rate per minute for every Globe to Globe voice calls while Globe to other providers will be charged of P7.50 per minute. Free 350 text messages and after the text free will be charge of P1 per text message. They will also get 40 hours free local mobile Internet and 20 hours free for both Wi-Fi and WIZ. The Apple iPhone 3G (8GB) handset would cost P15,100 and the Apple iPhone (16GB) would be P20,600.
For plan P4,999, subscribers will only pay P2,900 for the Apple iPhone 3G (16GB) handset; while the Apple iPhone 3G (8GB) handset will be given free. The user will also enjoy 750 minutes free local voice calls and 650 free text messages.
Globe-to-Globe voice calls would only be charged of P3.50 and P4.50 per minute from Globe to other networks. Text fee after the free text allocation would be at P0.50.
The plan P4,999 are also entitled to 100 hours Internet and unlimited access to Wi-Fi and WIZ.
Aside from plan P1,599 and P4,999, Globe is also offering plan P2,199, P3,299 and P3,999.
Globe is set to launch the Apple iPhone 3G next week and company officials are banking on its viability to help them keep its numbers up in the second semester of this year.
In its financial report, Globe closed the first half of the year with core net income of P 6.7 billion, down by 10 percent year-on-year.
Its mobile phone subscribers reached 22.7 million up by 25 percent than last year's level. (MSN/Sunnex)
